Description
MUDHONEY "Night Of The Hunted" b/w "Brand New Face" 7" METAL PLATES, 1998 Super Electro Sound Recordings USA. Condition is ex-/ex-/ex-, envelope has some bending, METAL PLATES have some light marks. Rare One Of A Kind Mudhoney oddity. These are the metal plates used to press up the actual records at the pressing plant. Here's United Record Pressing's explanation:
2-Step Plating: In the plating process, the metal stampers are created from the lacquers. Lacquers are coated with silver and electroplated to make the hard nickel metal plates. These plates are a "negative image" of the record in that the grooves in the plates are raised where the grooves in the records will be etched.
In the second step of plating, we take the stampers and create "mothers." "Mothers" are a metal version of your record. The mothers are used to create replacement stampers in case they get damaged or worn out from use.
These discs do actually play, but it's backwards! The envelope says they were pressed on Mar 04, 1998, 1500 copies of the record were ordered on Black Vinyl with a large hole.ATTENTION BIDDERS: I WILL NOT MAKE A DEAL ON SHIPPING COSTS (or anything else) AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES.
