LP
NO high priced ‘Buy It Now’!...LOW start!.....NO Reserve!
ORIGINAL issue from 1957. NOT a reissue on the cheapo Golden Guinea label. Vinyl weighs in at a hefty 224g and sleeve is laminated both sides.
Record has slight wear ao a little crackle is audible. Cleaned on my vinyl machine it plays very well and the music cuts through fine.
The sleeve is good – a little wear to opening edge on the back. NO rips, splits or writing.
Recorded by musicologist Alan Lomax of prisoners at Mississippi State Penitentary (Parchman Farm) in 1947. By the time of these recordings, these work songs were dying out so they’re important historical recordings. In the sleeve notes, Lomax realises that these prisoners are victims of the American apartheid system and prison is a glorified slave labour camp.
