Gregorio Paniagua -
MUSIQUE DE LA GRECE ANTIQUE -
Harmonia Mundi HM-1015 – French Pressing –
UTTERLY AWESOME! -
Recommended by TAS
Another musical and audio triumph from Paniagua, this ancient music disc is among few I know of to be honored on every single audiophile/music lover list there is.
And rightfully so.
Because the noise floor is so very low, it will immediately tell you how "noisy" your Rca Living Stereo favorite is and will eat-for-lunch that FR1 Mercury you pride yourself in. I know, this record ate mine.
From the moment you start to play this wonder, in fact, you will be aware not so much of players and instruments, but of space. Oh mercy, yes, one that suddenly appears right before you, alive, almost breathing, and fully able to transport you to its place.
There is no mistaking the excellence of this. It is the kind of audiophile experience that not only takes your breath away but also leaves you wanting for words. Time and again, I have seen audiophiles, jaws dropped, only capable of doing one thing when challenged by such alive, state-of-the-art sound:
They laugh.
Gatefold jacket is in very fine shape, without fault; record inside will play near mint.
I dare say, one of the finest records on the planet.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $14 via airmail for the first LP, $4 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
