Description
Madonna - Express Yourself UK 7" Vinyl Record Single - 1989.
This is the Ultra-Rare Zipper Fly Jeans Sleeve Limited Edition version.
I was working in HMV in Newcastle upon Tyne when this came out and I seem to remember we got a few hundred copies of this record (as we always did with any Madonna release) but could only get literally ONE or possibly TWO of these Zipper Packs - even the record shops couldn't get hold of these ones easily.
Being a huge Madonna fan and realising how scarce this was, I naturally bought this immediately there and then. It never even made it to the customer side of the counter.....
That was always the problem with working in HMV, I'd come home with records rather than my salary for the day as I saw so much I wanted!
This one turned out to be a good investment though as they were mega-rare then and are even rarer now 23 years later in 2012.
This copy still has the cellophane shrink wrap on it and the "Limited Edition" sticker with the catalogue number etc on it.
It has been very carefully slit with a sharp knife to allow the "normal" sleeve and vinyl record to be removed. With hindsight, maybe it would have been better left sealed as I never played the record but I always liked to check there was no damage and you can't do that if it's sealed. It looks sealed once everything is placed back inside.
The zipper has never been opened or unzipped - it's not really possible with the shrink wrap on. If you want to remove the cellophane (and therefore also the sticker) and be the first to 'unzip Madonna', that's up to you!! :o)
The way I have scanned the item above makes it look a little as if it's a side opening pack - it's not - it's top opening - I just placed the inner cover and record behind and to one side for the scan.
This is in perfect unplayed condition - the cellophane has also protected the sleeve beautifully.
