Mahler - Symphonie No.5 - Leonard Bernstein & Wiener Philarmoniker (Deutsche Grammophon 423 608-1) 1988 - Digital - German Pressing.
Recorded in Frankfurt in 1987 and released in 1988 of Gustav Mahler's (1860-1911) Symphonie No.5 conducted by Leonard Bernstein with The Wiener Philarmoniker. This is a rare and sought after recording in lovely condition, low start price as usual. The vinyl is digitally recorded and released on the Deutsch Grammophon label, it is supplied in its original picture sleeve, which still has the opened shrinkwrap in situ, featuring the artwork of Erte "Chant D'Automne" and a photograph of a pensive Leonard Bernstein on the reverse. The original four page insert featuring a photograph of Mahler on the front and outlining the events surrounding the composing of this work is also in situ. The vinyl is supplied in its original transparent polythene liner and paper liner.

Condition: Excellent +. It is rare to find a twenty year old vinyl in such superb condition. I think the only way of getting a more faultless copy would be to find a sealed, mint one. The vinyl looks nearly new, beautiful sheen and even under very bright halogen light there are no significant marks although when viewed through a magnifying glass there are one or two light, fine marks on side two. Played very rarely. Plays very near perfectly. On side one there are absolutely no blemishes nor any hint of surface noise, it is crystal clear. Side two is so close to perfect but I detected a very light but feintly audible nine revolution click approximately three minutes in, this coincides with a tiny mark feintly visible through a printers eye-glass. Maybe one or two isolated very, almost imperceptible, light ticks near the beginning. From here on there are no other extraneous noises at all even in the many quiet passages. Label: One tiny spindle mark on one side. Sleeve: Excellent +. The original shrink wrap, although neatly opened, is still in place. Insert: Excellent +. Near mint. Liner: Excellent +.
