Description

Mal Waldron Sextet     Mal/2    Prestige 7111 mono  "446 W. 50th St. N.Y.C."  label  Promo copy

Mal Waldron (p), John Coltrane (ts), Jackie McLean, Sahib Shihab (as), Idrees Sulieman, Bill Hardman (t), Julian Euell (b), Ed Thigpen, Art Taylor (d)  Recorded 1957

"446 W. 50th St., N.Y.C" label with deep groove and "RVG" and "AB" in the runout both sides.    Cover has "447 West 50th Street, New York 19, N.Y." address.

Record looks VG+ and plays VG+ overall, mostly plays VG++ with ballad "Don't Explain" VG.  Small "needle drop" type scratch app 1/8 inch mostly with grooves on first track Side 1 ticks below level of music 5 or 6 times. There are some scuffs at beginning of Side 2 which cause some cracking for app 30 secs. 'Don't Explain" has a light scratch which ticks below level of music for first half of tune. "Not for Sale" stamp on Side A.

Cover is VG+.  Front cover looks good with gloss, moderate overall wear and some staining at the pocket.  Staining looks a bit more obvious in picture than in normal light.  Due to apparent printing defect, there is a thin strip along the pocket without cover laminate, less than 1/8 inch at widest.  Top seam split and untaped 1 1/2 inches at the pocket. Rest of seam OK.  Bottom seam intact but worn heavily 1 inch at the pocket.  Spine intact, bright and readable.  The back cover has moderate wear and "Not For Sale" stamp.
