On offer here is a very rare LP by Manfred Mann called 'AS IS' and it is a MONO UK first pressing. HOWEVER THIS IS THE VERY VERY RARE PRESSING WITH A COVER SHOT OF THE BAND AWKWARDLY ASTRIDE A STEAM LOCOMOTIVE! THIS IS ONE OF,IF NOT THE,RAREST OF MANFRED MANN'S RECORDS! DO NOT MISS THIS INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY!!!! Apparently this cover was withdrawn within days of release as it was considered "uncool".SO RARE IT ISN'T EVEN LISTED ON DISCOGS!!
This is the ORIGINAL MONO FONTANA UK pressing from 1966 WITH THE LOCOMOTIVE COVER and is in great condition. This is an ORIGINAL Pressing with a Silver & Black Fontana Label. The record is pressed on THICK quality vinyl. The matrix numbers are "687920 1L-1 " and "687920 2L-1 ".. The stamper codes are "420 1 5". The Cat. No is TL5377 on the ORIGINAL Silver & Black Fontana label.
The record labels are in EXCELLENT condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing, and only a few spindle marks. The vinyl is in EXCELLENT condition.It has NO scratches, NO hairlines and only a VERY few light paper scuffs. THE RECORD STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK!It is also great to find that the playing of the record is as STUNNING as the visual!!!! It plays beautifully with nearly no surface noise, NO sticking, NO jumps, and NO crackle!There is NO audible groove wear and NO distortion! The record grades Excellent!THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST CONDITION LOCOMOTIVE COVER COPIES OF MANFRED MANN'S "AS IS"EVER TO BE OFFERED FOR SALE! This record is NOT overgraded in ANY way! I use STRICT RC grading standards.The MEGA RARE 'LOCOMOTIVE' FLIPBACK Cover is in VERY GOOD condition. It has MINIMAL edge wear, NO spinal wear, only slight corner wear,only a VERY few light creases and NO writing!!!! The opening edges are straight with MINIMAL feathering! There is NO lifting of the laminate. The rear matt card cover does suffer from some age related yellowing and some blackening along the edges of the flipbacks. The corners also have some compression. There are NO splits, NO rips, NO tears,NO writing,NO creases!If it wasn't for the issues relating to the rear of the cover and the corners it would grade Excellent. As it is I grade it VERY GOOD.
HAVE A LOOK AT MY PICTURES - I DO MY BEST TO SHOW THE RECORD FROM ALL ANGLES AND MAKE THE PICTURES AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE - THERE IS NOTHING TO HIDE. It really is a GREAT looking LP and it is truly rare to find any copies of this RARE Manfred Mann LP.
