Description

The Album is the debut album by the group Mantronix. The group was a New York-based duo composed of MC Tee and Kurtis Mantronik. Following some live performances together, they recorded a demo tape version of the song "Fresh is the Word" which was noticed by Will Socolov of Sleeping Bag Records. The label released the single and signed them to record an album.
British press magazines Melody Maker and the NME included it in their Top 10 albums of 1986. Later review, from Pitchfork and AllMusic predominantly commented again on the production, with AllMusic finding it being closer related to club music than hip hop while Pitchfork noting the albums production seeming to forbearer to Southern bounce and hyphy scenes.
The "Mantronix The Album" is a 12" vinyl record album released in 1985 by Mantronix under the Sleeping Bag Records label. Produced by M.C. Tee and Mantronik, it falls under the Electro style within the Hip Hop genre. The record has a run time of 35:35 and features stereo audio channels on a 180-220 gram black vinyl. The sleeve is worn, but the inlay is in near mint condition. This LP showcases the innovative sounds of Mantronix during the 1980s electro era.
