redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This lovely 2-LP set – a truly superb collector’s copy – from EMI (2 C151-73125/6, French pressing, brown label, mono) features legendary pianist Marcelle Meyer in her inimitable survey of piano music by Emmanuel Chabrier, a gramophone classic. In one work she is joined by no less than composer Francis Poulenc.
The exact contents are as follows:
Pièces Pittoresques
Ballabille
Habanera
Feuillet d’Album
Bourrée Fantasque
Aubade
Impromptu
Rondo Champêtre
Caprice
Valse Romantiques
> with Francis Poulenc
Joyeuse Marche
Air de Ballet
These remarkable performances were recorded in the fine acoustics of the Salle Adyar, Paris, in April 1955 (producer: Henri Screpel / engineer: Andr
é Charlin) and were first issued by the French label Les Discophiles Français.
The memorable cover photo of Meyer is credited to Lipnitzi-Viollet. The interior panels of the gatefold jacket contain liner notes by composer George Auric, as well as an essay by André Tubeuf – all texts provided in French and English.
PLEASE NOTE:
With packaging, this particular issue will weigh over 500 g. This means that outside of Europe the cost for shipping is about $22 USD, and that is just for standard airmail. Certified airmail (with a tracking number) costs $25 USD.
Those in doubt can visit the Spanish postal website (Correos.com), which is available in English. Although this listing states “free” shipping, it is not really free, of course. I have to pay for shipping like everyone else.
Anyway, all this to say that those who feel the price is high need to take the cost of shipping into account. If you have any questions or doubts, feel free to write and I will be happy to help. Thank you.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. Really, there are no flaws to speak of and the album appears vitually as new – overall, an outstanding collector's copy.
The condition of the 2 LPs is near-MINT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) these are fine copies and playback is superb. If you must have flawless surfaces, then please do not buy this set – these rate as NM collector's copies.
PLEASE NOTE:
This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve. The images I've provided are of the actual item you are potentially bidding on - these are not stock images or images I've taken from other sites. Bid with confidence!
PAYMENT:
Payment by PayPal is greatly preferred. Payment should be made within 5 days.

Shipping is free to anywhere in the world; this is true regardless of the number of LPs you buy, be it 1 or a 100. All LPs will be sent via standard airmail (7-10 days delivery). I will promptly leave feedback for all buyers. Please do not leave negative, or even neutral, feedback without first giving me an opportunity to resolve any dissatisfaction you might have with an item or transaction.
