This is a rare, absolutely mint-condition test pressing of the first record from Marginal Man, "Identity" 12" EP. Dischord Records No. 13, Washington, DC, March 1984.....HISTOIRE: Recorded by Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios. Produced by Marginal Man and Ian MacKaye. There are 9 songs on this EP: "Missing Rungs", "Friend", "Torn Apart", Mental Picture", Pandora's Box", Fallen Pieces", "Identity", Emotional Scars", and "Marginal Man." Born of the ashes of an earlier Washington, DC hardcore band, Artificial Peace, Marginal Man were a great hardcore punk band whose use of two guitar players made for a more sophisticated and vaguely California-ish hardcore sound. Members included Steve Polcari on vocals, Peter Murray on guitar, Kenny Inouye on guitar, Andre Lee on bass, and Mike Manos on drums...... DESCRIPTION: Vinyl record has "Diskmakers Test Pressing" labels with a big "A" and "B" on either side. White paper inner sleeve has yellowed at edges, even though it has been safe inside its original, plain white cardboard "disco" jacket since 1984. Disco jacket is pristine. Only 50 Marginal Man test pressings were made, and most were sent to radio stations, fanzines, or given to band members. This test pressing was never sent out, and has never been played, ever! Just think - if you choose to lay this disc on your platter, your needle would be the first ever to enter its grooves. Maybe you could have a nice candle-lit dinner first........ PROVENANCE: This record comes from the punk archives of Jeff Nelson ( Minor Threat / Dischord ), which are being downsized after having recently been described as "too big" and "insane." Test pressing is absolutely, unconditionally guaranteed to be original, and in stated condition.......PAYMENT: Ohio residents must add 7% sales tax (before shipping costs). SHIPPING: I will package this valuable record very well, using several extra pieces of cardboard to protect it. Package will weigh 1 pound 6 ounces. If this test pressing goes for a lot of money, I would very much recommend it be sent Express Mail (roughly $25.00), and I am willing to split the cost with buyer. It is worth it to me to ensure that nothing happens to this nice old record that has so far survived in such perfect condition.
