Description:  I have the pleasure of offering for sale on E-Bay the rare classical first stereo issue record on the Decca SXL record label series. The first issue Decca ED1 wide band grooved record label of (Mario Del Monaco recital No 4) Great tenor arias the conductor Alberto Erede conducts The New Symphony orchestra Of London. This record comes from a family archive collection, which I am now putting up for sale, giving someone else the opportunity to purchase and own this rare classical record.

Record Sleeve:

The record sleeve is in excellent condition laminated front and back, there is a slight rubbing wear on bottom seam otherwise excellent condition for a 56 year old classical record sleeve. The record has been in a protective plastic record cover since new maintaining its excellent bright and crisp appearance. (See photos for information).

Label:

The Decca wide band grooved ED1 labels are in excellent condition, all the Decca black & silver text print readable with no signs of wear.  The record shows signs of spindle spirals wear. (See photos for information)

Record:

Record condition report I have played the record  on a good quality record deck, both sides have excellent audio sound quality, record lies flat on the turntable.

Side 1: Record has 4 wispy hairlines marks or paper marks, these marks cause only 4 tic sounds on third tenor aria otherwise excellent audio sound quality.  Side 2:  Record has a 10mm un-sounding wispy mark on the second aria O-Paradiso tenor aria, no other visible marks apparent to the naked eye. The sound quality is excellent to my untrained ear, though because the record has been stored for over 20 years it may require a professional cleaning. The record is in excellent condition, besides the wispy unfeeling slight marks mentioned.  Comes in its original Decca FFSS poly-lined inner protection sleeve, which is in excellent condition. (See photos for more information)

I am not a professional record dealer just selling family owned records, and have tried to give a full and honest account of the records condition.  My grading of this record is in excellent condition with excellent sound quality and audio experience. The record sleeve comes is in excellent condition with the slight rubbing wear on bottom edge, and excellent condition grade for record labels. I will start this auction at £20.00 sold with no reserve and let the E-Bay market decide its value. Give yourself a rare opportunity of owning this excellent Decca SXL classical recording first issue, conducted by Alberto Edede featuring the celebrated classical tenor Mario Del Monaco.

The Record Grading

MINT:  The record itself is in brand new condition, I only grade sealed records in mint condition. The cover and any extra items are also unused in As NEW condition...

NEAR MINT:  A nearly perfect record, with only the slightest cosmetic flaw – no audible defect, Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.

EXCELLENT:  The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.  The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional scratch.  Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.
