Description

Very hard to find 1959 Warner Brothers gold label stereo original LP from Marty Paich “I Get A Kick Out Of You” (WB WS 1349, stereo). This LP has in incredible lineup of jazz greats with Art Pepper, Bill Perkins, Bill Hood (sax), Conte Candoli, Jack Sheldon, Al Porcino (trumpet), Bob Enevoldsen, George Roberts (trombone), Russ Freeman (piano), Vince DeRosa (French horn), Vic Feldman (vibes), Joe Montage (bass) and Mel Lewis (drums).

The tracklist is: It Don’t Mean A Thing/No More/Love For Sale/Moanin’/Violets For Your Furs/What Am I Here For-Cottontale/Warm Valley/Things Ain’t What They Used To Be.

I was very pleasantly surprised how well this played in spite of several scratches and sleeve scuffs. The performances come through crisp and clear. You should expect some surface noise and an occasional click but it is not at all overwhelming. The cover shows wear, is split on the top seam repaired with tape and has a name on the back. The bottom line on this copy is that it plays much better than it looks. If you want an audiophile copy with a mint cover I suggest you not bid, but if you want to hear some killer jazz on an album that is hard to find in any condition you won’t be disappointed.
