Description

This is the exceptionally rare Columbia Long Playing Microgroove, `Blue-Gold` label, serial 33CX 1359 release of this incredible piece performed by arguably one of the finest interpretational violinists there has ever been; Johanna Martzy, and the exceptional accompanying pianist; Jean Antonietti .
Short of what is mentioned in the `highlighted defects` section of this auction, the media is Near Mint, with a strong rainbow sheen to both sides of the vinyl and very minimal spindle disruption to the LP`s center hole.
I have taken a very close up picture (final picture in the auction set) of the Side 1 defect in bright light to try and capture the non-continuous scratch previously mentioned.
The sleeve has some wear down the spine, but no holes or splits. The sleeve opening has had some clear tape applied previously to protect this most likely damaged area. The original inner sleeve has also had some clear tape applied to protect the usual splitting areas. The sleeve overall is rated VG+.
This is an incredibly rare opportunity to own this sonic work of art, performed to an unprecedentedly high technical & emotional standard.
I recognise that this disc in it`s entirely is not mint, and I have started the auction at an appropriate level to reflect this. NM/NM versions of this recording, which do come up very rarely & ultimately sell, do so for £600 and beyond.
Be it for pleasure, to add to your collection, an investment, or all three, this auction gives you the opportunity to own an historic and exceptional piece.
Happy to ship internationally. Please ask for a quote to your location. Shipping prices shown are approximations.
