Description
Marvin Gaye What’s Going On
On this, Marvin Gaye’s 11th studio album, released in 1971, the artist establishes any number of genres in music on this concept album – indeed, even concept albums were in their infancy. The songs bleed into each other, revealing the storyline of a returning Viet Nam veteran to a country in turmoil, and even gives an early nod to environmental issues with “Mercy, Mercy Me.” The album stayed on the Album charts for over a year and produced three Top Ten singles, the aforementioned “Mercy, Mercy Me,”“Inner City Blues (Makes Me Wanna Holler)” and the title track. In 2003, the album was placed number 6 on the Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
This is the 2009 reissue from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab pressed on 180g vinyl with their half-speed mastering on the GAIN 2Analog System and is arguably the best pressing available. This is a SEALED promotional copy (unnumbered,as pictured). Priced to sell.
