Description
Massive Attack - Heligoland
Monster rare first vinyl edition, presented in a beautiful glitter-encrusted sleeve across 2 LPs with a bonus 12" featuring 4 exclusive remixes. A CD of the album is housed in a semi-transparent sleeve internally, and the set also includes an art-book in perfect condition and even the original sticker that was on the front of the shrink-wrap (but not the back barcode one, which is strange because I always keep those kinds of things - possible my copy was ordered direct from Vinyl Factory and did not feature a barcode sticker?).
The LPs were listened to once on purchase in 2008 and have been stored since, listened to once more when listing. They sound absolutely outstanding but whilst listening I was surprised - given how unused the vinyl is - to hear a bit of surface noise at the start of sides and between tracks - the start of Side 1 is particularly noticeable. To be honest, in normal circumstances you can expect this from second hand vinyl but due to the value of the item I want to be 100% clear with what you're getting. The tracks themselves play beautifully.
Side 1 Needledrop
Side 1 Pray For Rain to Babel transition
Side 2 Needledrop
Side 2 Splitting The Atom to Girl I Love You transition
Side 3 Needledrop

For some details on how the clips were captured, see the end of the listing.
Also, there is some spindle-hole damage on every side except Side B. The three worst are pictured, the rest are just slight dings in the black and are only accentuated by the minimalist nature of the design. Again, small issues usually when it comes to second hand vinyl, but I want you to know exactly what you're buying so there is no argument later.
The sleeve is excellent, near perfect in fact, having been put in a PVC sleeve on purchase and kept in it since. The corners are all solid and there is no defects anywhere. The only detail I have to mention is a light dot of PVC glue on the area where the CD sits - this is another manufacturing issue, probably from the glitter application process. The art-book is flawless with no damage of any kind.
Shipping is included via Royal Mail Special Delivery 1pm, so take that into account on any offers you make. International buyers, please contact for an exact shipping quote or simply purchase with confidence that if the actual shipping is more than expected you will be able to cancel your order without penalty.
Notes on the clips
Played on a Technics 1210mk2 with a Shure Whitelabel cartridge with 1.5g of weight into a Cambridge Audio 551P pre-amp, outputting directly to an RME Multiface II audio interface, known for its bulletproof Analog-to-Digital conversion. The audio is captured in Audacity at 48kHz 32-bit, higher than CD quality, then bounced down to 48kHz, 16-bit. The hosting site, Clyp.it, does not reduce the quality of uploaded audio files so what you are hearing is as close to a direct out of the phono preamp as possible.
