Glad to be back listing again. I’ll try and kick off things with a few “true” rare ones.

Here’s an auction I know will be appreciated by all the Beatle/Paul people out there that I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to deal with, not 1 but 2 copies of that rare 12” Ram promotional record, “Brung to ewe by” RAM. Why 2 copies some might ask? “You could make double the money with two separate auctions” a friend has advised me. As I’ve stated in my past auctions it’s not always about the money. Let me explain my reasoning.

As you can see from the provided photos I have both the small circle label and the large circle label being offered here. Both these records were obtained many years ago from the WNEW radio station’s library in New York. Both copies were housed in a single plain white sleeve/cover along with the two letters (see photos). It has always been known that the small circle label has been the “no doubt about it” AUTHENTIC pressing. Many bootlegs (of this old gem) have been pressed over the years in colored vinyl and black vinyl which features the large circle label creating some confusion with all the large circle pressings. I, as many others, have researched this record for many years trying to find out about the original origins of what was pressed and where. Where’s this going? Well rather than trying to have two separate auctions competing with each other, and listing that large circle label on its own and having to answer questions regarding its’ authenticity, I decided to just put both authentic pressings together and hope that another completist like myself would be interested in owning both versions.

I will state that everything is original and authentic and acquired by me from a very renowned source (mentioned above) back in the day.

Condition:

Both records are in excellent condition. Very minor marks on the vinyl with clean labels. Matrix numbers are correct for this pressing. Side 2 of these two promotional issues are blank/grooved. The original sleeve (just a common white slick cover from the period and correct for this issue) is in VG+ condition with no major flaws just some shelf wear and the expected discoloration. Both accompanying letters are fine. They show aging and are watermarked.

***To be clear this auction consists of (2) original and authentic promotional vinyl records one having a small circle label, the other having a large circle label, one authentic and original sleeve (where both records were housed when acquired) and one set of the 2 original, watermarked letters that were issued along with this promotional 12” at the time it was sent out to radio stations for promotion of Paul & Linda McCatney’s new album, RAM.

If you’ve never heard these promo tracks or its’ been a while since you listened to them, please take a moment and search them out for an ear tickle. Great stuff hearing a really laid back Paul (sounds a bit buzzed indeed) and the music ain’t bad. Unique is an understatement. I do know, from talking to a few of the radio personalities from the era, that some were a bit put off feeling Mr. McCartney overstepped in issuing this record for any AirPlay but others loved it even if they weren’t playing the spots as Paul had hoped. He really pushed RAM issuing a dedicated MONO mix for the exclusive reason of radio play back then (mono car speaker for those to young to remember). Anyway I’ve always loved RAM and these promo spots are a great addition whenever you want to sit and listen to that now considered classic album.

I thank everyone out there for taking the time to read through this long winded description. I, as always, want you to be pleased (or better) when you receive what you paid for. I try to point out any flaws that exist even at my own possible expense. Nothing worse than getting a record you took the time to decide to add to your collection and finding little unmentioned and hidden flaws when you open that package, so please rest assured if it’s something worth pointing out, I do try to.
