Description
Scaffold members Roger McGough & Mike McGear (McCartney) recorded this psychedelic satire album for Parlophone in 1968.
It included the usual Scaffold mix of lyrics, poems and comedy but most interestingly includes musical contributions from: Jimi Hendrix, Graham Nash, John Mayall, Spencer Davis, Yardbirds bassist Paul Samwell-Smith, Pretty Things drummer Viv Prince and others. Their contributions are best heard on the opening track 'So Much In Love' (complete with 'phasing' not present on reissues).
This UK 1st STEREO pressing dates from March 1968 release and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PCS 7047. The labels also include the 'Sold in UK.. ' text & 'Gramophone Co..' rims. The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
The matrix numbers are: YEX 679-1 & YEX 680-1 (all stamped). Both sides have the 1 mothers and R stampers at 9 and 3 o'clock respectively.
The disc is housed within a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover. Complete with its original black & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.
The labels are in a VG+ condition with a very slight ring on their both sides and two or three spindle trails around each centre hole.
The disc is in an EXCELLENT condition. There are numerous light wispy paper-type hairlines consistent with sleeve removal, but no other blemishes or wear have been identified. The record plays great with just a hint of playwear on the peaks and occasional light background static on side 2. However, the sound remains powerful and undistorted with no clicks, pops, or any other major audible faults while playing either of the songs.
The cover is in a VG+ condition with light to moderate handling and storage wear, but there are no major faults.
