CONDITION: 

Gatefold album cover has light dirt, slight shredding at bottom of binding that holds the sleeves together.  One spot on front and curved creases at top from the pressure of the discs.
                          
Records are approximately E- to E.  Rather than wear, it looks mostly like dirt and fingerprints and discs would probably clean up to mostly a solid E.

DESCRIPTION:  AUTOGRAPHED BY MEADE 'LUX' LEWIS

In the first year of Blue Note's existence, they released this deluxe gatefold album of 2 12" 78s, a 4 part piano blues by Meade 'Lux' Lewis.  While other copies of this have surfaced and been offered on eBay, I didn't find any evidence that they also contained this Blue Note label blank on the inner sleeve with Meade's autograph.  Comparing the autograph with Meade's endorsement of a check auctioned off earlier, it's clearly the same unique signature, here in a slightly faded blue fountain pen ink (see enlargement).  If anybody knows the back story here, I'd be interested in knowing more.  The original owner's book plate is pasted on the inner sleeve as well.
