TITLE: Meet The Beatles
LABEL/YEAR: Capitol T 2047 (1964) Mono, First Pressing - Capitol Records was in such a great rush to release this album, they did not wait around to receive performance rights information prior to ordering up the initial batch of labels to be used on the records. Consequently, the first labels were printed without BMI or ASCAP designations following each track. ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF THESE FIRST-RUN LABELS WERE PRINTED, AND THE ONLY CONFIRMED FIRST LABEL PRESSINGS WERE PRINTED BY KEYSTONE ON THE EAST COAST. This is and east coast pressing, Scranton, PA.
CONDITION: Looking at the label photos, with all the spindle marks you might think it is pretty beat up....it is not. The vinyl itself still has a nice luster and rates VG with mostly light sleeve scuffing. Play grades very nicely, closer to VG+ with minimal surface noise, no revolution ticks, or loud pops except for the beginning of "Hold Me Tight" where there is a small parallel to the grooves scratch that causes a minute skip. Cover is VG- with old scotch tape residue on corners & center portions, Pamela, who wrote her name on the back must have taped it to her wall and worshiped it or something! There are no splits. Maybe the high bidder will have a better cover, certainly much easier to find than the record.
