Description
The reason why this copy of Meet The Beatles, aside from the great music, is highly sought after by collectors is because it is one of the approximately 200,000 pressings from the Capitol Scranton PA factory (#3) which were so frantically ordered into production after the phenomenal Ed Sullivan performance in February, 1964. In rushing the production, the requisite credits to the ASCAP -American Society of Composer and Publishers and BMI - British Music Industry which is supposed to accompany the title, along with the writer and time, was left off. Take a look at any copy you may have, more than likely next to each song will appear either the letters ASCAP or BMI. Once the error was realized the credits began appearing. But Capitol was not going to throw out the first run, so this copy w/o ANY credits distinguishes itself as being among the first 200,000 pressed, out of what would become millions.
This particular copy is in VG++ condition, numerous light marks only on both sides, songs plays wonderfully. Photos of the labels are provided. Jacket has no seam splits, spine completely intact and legible, small name written (see photo),, small spill stain on the bottom right of the back(see photo), lower left corner has tiny loss of paper. Light ring wear on back, front does not show ring wear.
