READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Meet the Beatles LP 1969 Record Club Black Capitol Label Nice VG+/VG++!

Collectors know how hard it is to find black Capitol Record Club copies with green Capitol copies being hard enough.

Still need one of these for your collection? This copy is not NM, but it still has a lot of original gloss left to it. Lots of play time left as well. This one will serve as a highly respected filler if you’re a discerning collector, or it can easily be your keeper.

A VERY solid copy!

Vinyl--- VG+/VG++. Side 1 has a weird long, light scuff that is flat against the playing surface, and is not feelable with the fingertip. It just looks strange. Side 2 isn’t quite EX, but it’s sure better than a VG+ grade is. Both sides have some dulling of the grooves, but not much. Also just a handful on each side of short, tiny hairlines.

PLEASE NOTE:

I’m working with a new program to crop and brighten photos for these auctions. It’s got an AI base, which keeps removing the lightest scratches against my will. Those seem not to be showing up in these photos, so please be aware that both sides have very light hairlines. Ta!

Plates--- W2/W2. Record Club copies were not pressed by Capitol Records, and so they have no Capitol insignias. They do however, have an extra numeral 8 in their catalogue numbers, which appears in the dead waxes of both sides.

Cover--- Strong VG. Structurally solid cover. Front cover has the three black diagonal stripes at the top left corner, plus the extra numeral 8 all over the place.

Odd cover. The front slick is glossy, whereas the back and wraparound is flat. You can clearly see the difference. Front slick is still in gorgeous condition with such minimal wear. Back cover has yellowed and has some light foxing. Back cover has the three black diagonal stripes at the top right corner, plus the extra numeral 8. Top and bottom seams and the spine are all very strong, Some dirtwear. NO SHELFWEAR, SEAM SPLITS. Not even almost.

Labels--- EX/EX. Both labels are highly glossy, so they have the tiny gloss cracking that we expect over time. Well, Side 2 does anyway. NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present. Sleeve would have graded an easy EX, except for one side seam split about 1 to 2 inches.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 16

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)

Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
