It was 60 years ago today that The Beatles invaded America and made their debut appearance on The Ed Sullivan show that evening. I can still remember Ed Sullivan words "Ladies and Gentleman the moment we've been waiting for from Liverpool England here they are The Beatles! 70 million veiwers watched in awe, I was just a young lad then and I couldn't believe what I was hearing that music coming out of the old black and white set. I remember thinking to myself wow look at their hair! I had never seen mop tops like that before. It truly was a historical moment in time. A real pop phenomenon, a marvel a sensation that is hard to describe. So to Commorate the event I am putting up this debut LP of "Meet The Beatles! but it's not the common issue, this one is Made in Japan and on Odeon black label with silver print. I'm not sure if it originally had a OBI but there is none on this one. It may have never had one to begin with. The record plays great meaning no skips, jumps or repeats, sound is amazing in view of the fact that there are multi surface scratches and scuffs both sides, I think it plays and sounds great. There are some surface crackles but only at lead in, track divisions and trail-off. I didn't notice any during play. The cover is in relatively good condition for being 60 years old and has stood the test of time. I forgot to mention that record is red wax and translucent, truly a rare piece to have!
