Mega RARE New Jersey 60's Garage Fuzz rocker Acetate The Ruins 7" 10" 45 LISTEN ABOVE plays VG+. Some cracking near lead edge, but playing surface is fine. This could be one of 2 copies known to exist... Below: Info I found on net. "The Ruins" from central New Jersey written by Bruce Scofield. It is included in a mysterious compilation album called "A Fistful of Fuzz" by Various Artists. The recording was done by inventor Geno Viscone in the back of the Manville Mall sometime in late 1966 or 1967. The song is about lead singer Joe Mavica's mother, who, like most parents at the time, was very disturbed by the trends and styles of the 1960's. The real star of the tune is Andy Fekete and his fuzzed up Fender Jazzmaster - photos of him run during his solo work on the record. Acetate records can be just run off of the master tape for test purposes (to see what the artist thinks), demos or recorded messages. Recording surface. The acetate disk's recording surface is very soft, as the records were actually cut on a machine. The material for this surface is generally an acetate-based material, hence the name "acetate." It has a particular musty odour to it, as well. These records are NOT designed for repeated play.
