Description

Melanie, My Beautiful People b/w God's Only Daughter on Columbia 44349.  White-label promo copy is M- with just a couple of tiny marks and a light paper scuff or two.  This is Melanie's first record under her own name (she had previously cut a single for UA as "Mommy") and her time with Columbia was over in a flash. This record features a completely different take and treatment of Beautiful than the later Buddah release.  The record itself doesn't turn up a lot, but the real prize here is the sleeve, which is very, very rare, and features different pictures front and back.  This copy of the sleeve has the record impression visible, a few very small and subtle blemishes, and a tiny tear in the front upper-right quadrant that does not intrude upon any graphics.  No paper is missing as a result of the tear (which should be visible on the scan)  The rear of the sleeve has a small white crease that runs across one of Melanie's eyes, though that part of her face is in total shadow--it's pitch black in the picture. The inside of the sleeve shows some yellowing from age.  Overall, a very fine copy of a real rarity--no stickers, no writing, no seam splits, no structural issues.  I've been collecting records for more than 35 years, and I've never seen another of these.

MINT-  Perfect or virtually perfect.  

VG+ Light marks, full shine, great looking record

VG  Still fairly shiny but clearly a used record, light scratches, will play well but with some surface noise

VG-  Played or used more heavily, lots of scratches, more pronounced surface noise, but still plays through okay
