Description
Melvins "Lysol" LP, original pressing on Boner Records, original owner, vinyl NM+ condition. Inner rose flower sleeve also NM+. Very rare.
Outer sleeve EX/VG++ relatively speaking, it's in the exact shape as it was made. Boner did not treat records well. Read on.
The story: the first pressing had the title "Lysol" in white on the front. As soon as it was released, the "fine" makers of Lysol brand products threatened to sue their pants off. Boner ordered a second pressing without the name, which are sold today as the "blank" edition, but decided to sell these by putting a black sticker over the name, as pictured, and fill orders from folks like me.
The outer sleeves took a lot of abuse as they were unboxed & unwrapped, handled, stickered, and reboxed without the cellophane / plastic. The stickers themselves were heavy and cheap, and wore into the backsides of the albums packed with them. This caused scuffs on the backside, also pictured. I doubt there's a copy out there without this kind of damage. My friend's copy was in the same shape.
The sticker can be removed with any appropriate solvent, including lighter fluid (the right kind.) Trivia: only a couple hundred original copies shipped without the sticker. Most being sold without have had it removed.
When bought new this was treated with Last Record Preservative (highly recommended) and played once to make a copy to cassette tape for the ol' Walkman. Always kept in a non-smoking environment in a proper case, vinyl stored outside of sleeve (no ring wear) in an acid-free archival plastic sleeve. Some very minor corner whiteness as it came but vinyl and inner sleeve are in as near mint condition as it gets. This is exactly what would have arrived in the mail if you'd ordered it back in 1992.
Shipped USPS Media Mail or First Class in a new heavy cardboard 12" record mailer with proper padding and full insurance, which is reflected in shipping charges. With new mailers, etc. I lose a few bucks. Not trying to gouge on the postage, trust me.
I'm downsizing my home and life so it's time to move this and other rarities to a new owner. Satisfaction guaranteed. Buy this drone/metal classic and rattle your windows until they shatter. Your neighbors will love you, long time!
