Description
SR 90213, RAVEL - Le Tombeau de Couperin, Valses nobles et sentimentales / DEBUSSY - Petite Suite, Prelude a l’Apres – midi d’un faune, Paul Paray, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, FR1/FR4 (I) Indianapolis pressing. This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old, FR1/FR4 pressing. It is one of the best and rarest of the Mercury Living Presence LPs, and is ranked #24 on Sid Marks’ list of all-time best Mercury recordings in TAS. The music and sound are sumptuously beautiful. This is my own personal copy, and the vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and quiet EXCEPT for about 6 tics on side 2. There are some light scuff marks on both sides, but these make little or no sound. The labels are clean but show some wear and spindle trails. I am grading this copy as EX primarily because of the spindle wear and light scuffs. The vinyl itself plays NM except for the 6 tics noted. The jacket is clean, glossy and grades NM with no marks or seam splits. It does have one tiny corner ding and the original record shop sticker in the upper right corner (see photos). The inner sleeve is the original and grades NM. Overall, this is an excellent copy of this beautiful golden age recording. Feel free to return for a full refund if not completely satisfied.
