Since EMI also LICENSED this recording to issue in Europe, a lot of sellers/collectors tend to believe this was originally recorded by EMI. Not true. Recorded on site at the La Scala, Milan in September, 1957, this was by far the largest production by the Mercury team. The producer was Wilma Cozart Fine, and as usual, Robert Fine was the engineer. It captures Callas in her prime in most truthful sound. Getting very difficult to find in nice shape now!

Record condition: NM-/EX+/NM-/NM-/EX+/NM- (some long but shallow fingernail/spindle scuffs, plays with occasional light ticks)

Box condition: EX+ (clear tape on spine and slight corner wear, otherwise solid)

Booklet condition: NM

Stamper: FR5/FR2/FR1/FR7/FR2/FR9 dark maroon label
