MERRY AIRBRAKES

S/T LP

Shadoks (Germany) reissue, limited to 450 copies OUT OF PRINT!

From Volcanic Tongue: "180 g limited, numbered edition repro of 450 copies with engraved colour artwork of this beautifully baked 1973 side recorded by a bunch of disaffected Vietnam vets. Cool, bluesy Edgar Broughton/Captain Beefheart styled grunt, with some tracks – like the great “Quang Tri City” - featuring nothing but bass drum, vocals, harp and maracas. Other parts of the disc touch on a kind of Buffalo Springfield/Creedence-styled country hump that comes totally soaked in the fine, fine air of the time. Recommended."

label description: "Raw Psych with bluesy touch from Nam veterans, actually the first post-Vietnam record (recorded 1973). With songs about the Vietnam's point of view. Wonder why this never made it onto a major label. Bill Homans great voice is getting you. He, his brother Peter plus 4 other musicians recorded this album for a private studio to get attention from a big label. Some songs sound like Cpt. Beefheart doing Vietnam songs, others are fragile and MOST beautiful. We love it forever."

Very rare Shadoks reissue of the lone outing from Merry Airbrakes.  The Neil Young and Creedence comparisons are apt.  Great stuff!  Handnumbered edition of 450 (this is #171).  Beautifil silkscreen on extra thick jacket.  Vinyl and sleeve are NM+.

No reserve!
