Description

An original 1st press of RTL on the UK MFN label from 1984. Matrix - MPO A1/B1 TY [confirming very 1st press]. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with the typographical error on the rear "For Whom The Bells Toll" - when it should in fact read "..Bell Tolls". Also the cover does not carry a bar-code on the rear and this helps to date it to 1984. The genuine very 1st pressings should also come with a promo leaflet advertising the current album release in 1984 along with the single 'Jump In The Fire'. We also have the original lyric inner sheet. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Will ship with record in a poly-lined for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, someone really looked after this copy. It looks amazing and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. These early 1st issues have a reputation for sounding about as good as you can go with Metallica - and this copy does not disappoint. Intros and inbetweens are really quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Admittedly there aren't all that many moments when the audio isn't at FULL ATTACK..but in those occasional low-key moments this copy proves itself as a clean low-mileage copy. Interference is pretty much non-existent. I couldn't make out more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. If you're looking for a long-term best-that-you-can-find copy...I would argue this is about as close as you'll ever find. FINAL UPGRADE..and that's before you see the cover!
Cover (Ex+) I had to do a bit of a double-take on this cover..I was convinced it must have been a re-issue from ten years later or so....But NO it turns out this amazing specimen is genuine 1984! I don't think I've even seen one in this kind of condition....the preservation levels are through the roof. It basically looks, in all respects, like it was printed yesterday. Which, as you can imagine, is quite unusual for a true original 1984 copy. All surfaces are perfectly shiny, untouched, no marks of any kind whatsoever. Edge wear is totally non-existent. All corners are perfectly pointed and the openings still sharp. Both sides of the Lp lie totally flat and the cover retains perfect rigidity. The spine is 100% intact. Anyway you get my drift....you ain't even going to get close to this example without a seriously long search. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner (Ex+) Quite fragile really..but STILL..totally perfectly preserved. No splits...it just feels new!
