Description
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This excellent and rather scarce LP – a superb collector's copy – from EMI (2 C 065-81346, French Pathé-Marconi pressing, red dog-in-stamp label, stereo) features the legendary Magda Tagliaferro in an all-Villa-Lobos program, first issued in 1973.
Any recording by Tagliaferro is to be treasured and this is no exception, and she was perhaps unsurpassed in the music of her compatriot Villa-Lobos – wonderful from first to last.
Included are the following works of Heitor Villa-Lobos:
Chôro No. 5 "Alma brasileira"
Rosa amarela
Festa no sertao
A maré encheu
A gaita de um precoce fantasiado
Impressoes seresteiras
Farrapos
Vamos atras de serra, ohi calunga
Lenda do caboclo
Incidentally, the striking cover art reprints Frans Post's "Payasage brésilien", from the collection of the Pinacothèque de Munich. The liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket are by Bernard Gavoty (in French only).
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. The jacket is slightly bowed at top, but that is all. The shrinkwrap is largely intact, apart from a fairly large tear to the rear panel. There are no seamsplits or owners' markings and the album remains solid, bright, and glossy – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. The surfaces remain absolutely bright and glossy and the playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
