DESCRIPTION:

Michael Garrick - Jazz Cantata (for Martin Luther King) Private pressing (Erase EO 254 S - Stereo) Featuriung The Cream of British Jazz Players - To name but a few: Don Rendell, Ian Carr, Art Themen, Coleridge Goode, Et al.

This incredibly rare Garrick outing was recorded on the 13 May 1969 at Farnham Parish Church as part of the 1969 Farnham Festival. As noted on the sleeve 'The sale of this record is restricted to participants, their parents and other friends of the Farnham Festival 1969' Musically the LP intertwines poetry and spoken word with modal Jazz

Garricks ‘Cantata’ and ‘ Moonscape’ are certainly his rarest works. It could be argued Cantata is the rarest of the two. Only one copy has ever sold on eBay and that was in 2009 - Please see below for a full condition report

CONDITION:

We have been collecting and trading records for 20+ years professionally and genuinely want you to be happy with your purchase. For this reason we treat grading very seriously and as our feedback suggests conservatively.

Record

The flat playing surfaces retain much of their original luster, paper chaffing and light hairlines are present. No feelable marks, on play back no repetitive clicks, or jumps, As with most private pressings (This is also a live recording in a church) there is surface noise present . The labels are complete, no stickers, scuffs or text loss. The spindle hole shows multiplet signs of play. This record was cleaned on a VPI several times and sound tested (See YouTube film above) with a Garrard 301, Audio Note IO Limited cartridge and Kondo Wired SME 3012 Series 1 tonearm. Under magnification the grooves are in nice order and free from deformation. Condition Grade VG (Very Good)

Cover

The fully laminated cover is in nice condition – All seams are straight and true – No seam splits, feathering to the opening edge. Laminate lift to the back right top. No other difficulties - The spine text is clean and crisp. The back slick displays well. All text and graphics are clear and crisp. Overall grade EX- (Excellent minus)
