Description

Original UK Deram label stereo press LP.

Tanglewood 63 is Michael Gibbs second solo album released in January 1971 and includes many elements of jazz, classical & progressive rock. Originally from Zimbabwe he spent much of the late 1960's collaborating with, composing for or supporting British jazz legends on trombone & keyboards, such as John Dankworth, Graham Collier & Mike Westbrook. By 1970 he decided to go solo with his own big band and signed to Deram Records releasing Michael Gibbs, in 1970.

This is the original issue with the small red Deram label, the earliest P-1W P-2W matrices and the 1-G 1-G stampers of the first pressings!
The Moore & Matthes Ltd front laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner wear and laminate rubbing, with one or two small creases on the outer cover and the rear cover has some light storage rubbing. The spine is intact and fully readable, the blue company inner is intact and in VG+ condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with a few very faint hairlines and one or two light needle marks/scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, it plays really well and is a great, loud and clear listen.

The matrix nos. are; ZAL-10613-P-1W stamper 1-G, ZAL-10614-P-2W stamper 1-G. This is one of the early copies of the 1st press of the original 1971 UK stereo issue of this album!
