"Like I said, everybody thinks they're an expert, and nobody really is." Jonathan of MJMarket / @MJFanGirl episode
BEN is forever known as Michael's first #1 song on pop charts as a solo artist, at only 14 years old.. and about ten years before mega "Thriller".
Like much great art, BEN is an obvious early signal of MJ's lifelong attachment to movies and film/big screen storytelling, anticipating MJ's later dive in deeper themes in fantasy and horror genres ("Thriller", "Bad", "Smooth Criminal", "Captain EO")..
With his famous sweetness and sensitivity, all the more with his perfectionism, BEN became a favorite ballad of Michael's, a constant in his set lists, a proud personal milestone.. even prioritizing it on concert set-lists post- "Off The Wall" success, and up to 1981 Triumph tour:
"The song went to number one, and is still a favorite of mine." (MJ's Moonwalk memoir; also Knopper's MJ: The Genius of Michael Jackson)
Signed with some kind of oil pen/crayon that matches color of Michael's bicycle on photo? (See pics)
The perpetual Peter Pan, this record and his signature represents a youthful star who was about to fly into his transcendant name and impact.
