LP a copertina apribile. Rara edizione del 1982, a 9 tracce, con inserto a colori lucido di 10 pagine con foto a colori, discografia, testi in inglese e giapponese e doppio poster, con ulteriore inserto di 2 pagine con note biografiche in giapponese. OBI a colori, a sfondo azzurro, riportante il prezzo di yen 2.500.

Thriller raggiunse la vetta sulla Billboard 200 Chart e ci rimase per ben 37 settimane, rimase invece nella top 10 per 80 settimane e in classifica per 122 settimane. Da quest'album vennero estratti sette singoli tra cui Billie Jean, Beat It, ed infine l'omonima Thriller. Il primo (Billie Jean) raggiunse la prima posizione nella Billboard Hot 100 rimanendovi per sette settimane consecutive e nella R&B chart per nove settimane. Il brano è il più famoso della carriera di Jackson ed è considerato uno dei migliori nella storia della musica. Beat It raggiunse anch'essa la prima posizione sulla Billboard Hot 100 e la mantenne per tre settimane, mentre Thriller non raggiunse la vetta sulla Hot 100 bensì in quella Hot Dance Club Play rimanendovi per undici settimane. Dopo un anno dalla sua pubblicazione il disco aveva già venduto più di 27 milioni di copie, e nel 1985 venne introdotto per la prima volta nel Guinness dei primati come disco di maggior successo di sempre. Thriller inoltre, è stato il primo e unico album della storia ad essere il best-seller americano per due anni di fila (1983-1984). Parte del successo dell'album è dovuto inoltre all'esibizione al 25° anniversario della Motown dove Michael Jackson si esibì in Billie Jean e lanciò il Moonwalk ovvero la celebre camminata all'indietro (successivamente usata in tutte le esibizioni live di Billie Jean). Al disco collaborarono anche altri artisti, tra cui Paul McCartney, Toto ed Eddie Van Halen. Nel 1984, Thriller ricevette 12 nominations ai Grammy Awards e ne vinse 8 (cifra record per un solo album). A seguito della morte di Jackson, l'album è rientrato ai primi posti in tutte le classifiche mondiali, vendendo più di 2 milioni di copie. Il successo si è conseguito anche per i singoli, i quali hanno riconquistato la vetta delle classifiche, con diverse milioni di copie vendute. A distanza di due mesi circa dalla morte del cantante, Thriller ha conquistato il suo 29esimo disco di platino negli Stati Uniti, eguagliando il record di album più venduto nel paese detenuto da Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) degli Eagles.
