Mick Softley - Sunrise
(CBS UK 1970) Original with gatefold sleeve VG++/EX
Mick Softly had been around for a few years before this, recording a 45 for Immediate and an LP for Columbia, both in a more trad folk vein, as early as 1965. Beset by mental health problems he recorded the very early psychedelic "Am I the Red One" for CBS in 1966 and then all went quiet until this LP 4 years later, which found him living in a van but looking at the stars. This is acid damaged folk psych rock personified, with plenty of rocking full band action, subtle introspectiveness and wacked-out weirdness, including moog and sitars.
Condition
The matt gatefold sleeve is in VG++ condition with nice clean front and back with only a little wear on the edges, a name on the back and some creasing on the spine. Inside gatefold is very nice and close to EX.
The first press CBS labels show a few spindle marks but nothing to indicate this LP has been played many times and there is a name on the A side label.
The vinyl has only superficial marks under bright light and sounds fantastic. EX.
Grading
M- As new, no marks of any kind whatsoever.
EX Perhaps a few featherlight whispy marks, but no scratches or deterioration in sound
VG+ Some light marks on the vinyl, but nothing that should cause clicks or pops, just occasional light surface noise.
VG Some heavier marks and maybe a few scratches that will cause some noise, but will still be a very enjoyable listen with definitely no sticks or skips or constant surface noise.
