Mike does what? Well, let’s check out the story on the back cover. Mike was a “young man of Scripture” with dreams of joining the priesthood when he was paralyzed in an auto accident in 1973. The injuries (so it says) had the effect of intensifying the poignancy of his tenor voice. “To listen to Mike’s song is to imbibe the warm sweet summer’s fragrance of new-mown hay distilled in every golden note. This is precisely Mike’s plan – to make Hay for his listening friends through the magic of his sun-g-shine.” Got that? Actually I have to admit it’s a fairly nice voice, and Mike soothing applies it to songs like ‘Sabbath Prayer’, ‘Brothers In Christ’, ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘The Wedding Song’, ‘Wherever You Go’ and ‘All Good Gifts’. Opens with a pair of Dan Fogelberg songs, “There’s A Place In The World For A Gambler’ and ‘The Long Way’. Also a cover of Barbara Streisand’s ‘Evergreen’ if you can handle that. All with simple backing from friends on 12-string, 6-string and upright bass. A home-made (obviously) record from Huron, Ohio.(The Archivist, 4th edition by Ken Scott).
