Description

Rare “Demo”! Plays all the way through w/surprisingly decent sound, albeit moderate, but certainly not always constant, surface noise (mainly the nostalgic sounding crackle of an old record, plus a few tics). No skips or jumps! It plays better than expected considering the handling marks and sleeve-sweeps present. 1A/1AE runouts. The 1A stamper found on a Stereo “Demo” is an extremely rare find (note that these “Demo” stampers were used to produce all the initial Canadian commercial pressings). These “Demos” are as close to the original 1959 recording as you can get, w/clarity that can still be heard, even on this used copy. The record has been thoroughly cleaned. “6 Eye” Black & White labels in VG shape w/no odd markings. 59’ “Misprinted” Stereo sleeve in very good shape, nice and solid. Comes in a repaired original “Columbia 1,500 Eye” inner. These Stereo “demos” are even harder to come by than the Mono “demos” since Mono was King back in 1959. I noticed during playback that this “Demonstration” copy has a very pleasing deep and full low-end not present on my commercial release 59’ 1AH/1AG Stereo “Kind Of Blue”.
A very rare find in “Demonstration” form, and a real piece of Jazz History...
Bonus authentic “Birdland” playbill/mail-away in gorgeous shape. Miles had been hassled and experienced Police brutality right out in front of this historic venue not too long after the release of this album.
