Description

No defects, plays perfectly and silently throughout. Lovingly cared for and from my personal collection. Only ever played on high end equipment. Faint hairlines from occasional playback in very bright light. Superb condition and example of this iconic album on this legendary label.

The Nimbus Supercut LPs were released as a mail order only promotion to Practical Hi-Fi and Hi-Fi today magazine readers during the early 1980s. All Nimbus Supercut releases were available in very limited quantities, usually of around 1000 pressings or less, per title. Nimbus Records have grown to achieve legendary status with audiophile collectors for their 'Supercut' releases; each release being mastered from the original master tapes using the highest available mastering processes, employing many techniques for each release that were not commonly used. An example would be that, generally, when the bass sections move from channel to channel, a groove modulation is employed to reduce the movement of the stylus, and this results in the bass being centred over both channels. It has been argued that this, or anything else that changes the original recording should be avoided, although this became common practice on the recording of many LPs.

Nimbus also had the ICI company produce an extremely pure vinyl for the LPs, which has amazing frequency reproduction and is virtually noise free - similar in quality to the 'super vinyl' used on earlier Mofi pressings. Due to their rarity and small pressing quantities, the NIMBUS Lps were often more expensive than audiophile LPs from other labels.
