MILES DAVIS - KIND OF BLUE - RARE TO FIND ONE IN THIS CONDITION
- Original First Pressing of the 1959 Columbia Recording - Stereo LP CS 8163
- Features Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Wynton Kelly, Cannonball Adderley, Paul Chambers and James Cobb.
- Original “six eyes” Columbia “Deep Groove” red and black stereo label, features B-side track listing error, spelling mistakes and uncorrected speed pitch.
- There is no CBS logo on top of label; later pressings have this.
- Matrix number in dead wax end with 1-AH on side one and 1-AG on side two, this denotes that it is a very first, original pressing.
Cover – EX
The cover is very nice and hard to find in this condition. There is no writing or major blemishes. It has some light age-related discolouration and light ring wear upon close inspection. The corners and spine are nice and square with some light usage, the seams are strong, and all text is fully intact. It is rare to find a cover in the condition.
Record – Strong VG + overall
There are light scratches on side one, nothing deep. There are some crackling sounds on the quieter parts, and a few tics here and there. There is also light staining that is visible on this side, caused by storage. They don’t have any impact on the sound whatsoever. I’ve taken a close up picture to illustrate. This side is VG +.
Side two is splendid; it has some very light superficial marks that require a close-up view under light. It appears like it only had very few plays. It only produces some light crackling sounds in the quieter sections. This side is EX.
I have play-tested the 55-year old record from beginning to end. The sound is rich and full-bodied. The labels look great, with a tiny manufacturing smudge on the spindle hole of side two.
The record also comes with the original clear plastic inner-sleeve, making this a complete original set. I also included a standard white inner sleeve.
