Description
This is one of 4 original jazz LPs I am listing that date from the late 50s to the early 60s.There are 2 from the Esquire, a Blue Note and one from Riverside. All 4 of them are well known classic albums and, to the best of my belief, all are original first pressings in the UK. I have owned them since new and now have them on CD reissues -for better or maybe for worse! I am assuming if you're reading this you are not into 'Take That' compilations nor the latest 'One Direction' album - you will know all about jazz from the very top era of jazz in the 20th century.
I am aware that some jazz vinyl enthusiasts will buy duplicate copies of favourite records in the hope that either the vinyl of the newer copy will be better or maybe they are looking for a better cover. Accordingly I have gone to some trouble to photograph the covers - front and back - and shall endeavor to describe their conditions as accurately as possible.
You all must be aware of this marvellous recording and the alleged punch-up between Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk during the recording sessions. The other giants included Milt Jackson, Percy Heath, Kenny Clarke and, on one track, John Coltrane, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones. The vinyl is Esquire's heavyweight 246 gm material. It has lasted well and plays with just a little surface noise on some tracks. The cover is clean too, with the outline of the heavyweight vinyl showing through. By the way, the reflection on the label picture is my hand and the camera. I don't think the inner cover is the original. Any questions please ask now rather than later!
