Description
Millennium-It’s You/I Just Want To Be Your Friend (Columbia 44546) VG+ PICTURE SLEEVE ONLY stain on bottom, light ringwear and slight wrinkling of the paper. This is one of those gorgeous 2-sided black and white Columbia picture sleeves with different graphics on each side, both of which I've reproduced here for your visual enjoyment.
NOTE: This is the SUPER elusive first printing Joey Stec naughty "middle-finger" variation (conceptually just like the Moby Grabe cover) which was airbrushed out in the second far-more common printing. Incredibly rare and this only the second copy of this first printing sleeve that I've ever seen in over 35 years of collecting. I've been aware of the PS since 1974 when I saw Michael Fennelly play live in Harrisburg PA (in support of his under-rated Zombies-related Lane Changer LP), hung out with him backstage, and had him sign my "middle-finger" copy of the PS which blew his mind (yes, 1974!). Didn't even know about the different printing until a few years later when I finally scored my first extra copy--and all the other ones I've since picked up since then have been the edited version except for this PS which I've finally decided to auction. I've also asked around to other Boettcher/Millennium collectors and nobody, repeat nobody, seems to know about or have this naughty version. So it IS extremely rare.
I've zeroed in and scanned both versions here so you can compare the variation along with Columbia's "cleaned-up" version which I also have in my personal collection. Most collectors don't even know about this first printing since it was no doubt immediately withdrawn for potential bad publicity (Joey, you punk hehehe!). FYI I do have an extra clean "It's You" vinyl single which could be negotiated for ... but the sleeve is the real rarity here.
Low reserve for this mega unknown collectable--hard to put a minimum bid on this due to it's uber-rarity so let's start it at $49.99 and see where it ends up.
