Self-titled-LP

Blue Note BLP 1542 Mono

1956 release  33 1/3 RPM  LP  by Milt Jackson with John Lewis, Percy Heath, Kenny Clarke, Art Blakey, Lou Donaldson and the Thelonious Monk Quintet. Tracks include "Willow Weep for Me," "Bags' Groove" and "Criss Cross." Cover shows moderate wear. The edges show extensive splitting with about 1/3 of the edge intact. First pressing of this record was on the Lexington Ave. label, with the second pressing on the West 63rd label. This particular copy is an odd hybrid, obviously from the very early days of the West 63rd era (Blue Note moved in 1956). Here's the lowdown: cover has West 63rd address, side 1 label has West 63rd address, but side 2 has Lexington Ave address!! Disc (classic early blue & white with deepgroove on both sides) shows numerous light-to-moderate marks, but no serious gouges.  B side does show one very heavy scuff/scrape at the beginning of the side. This, however, does not significantly affect play. Plays with bright sound and moderate surface noise. Disc has "RVG" in the dead wax and "ear" symbol.

 Very Rare Blue Note original-with unusual label variations-offered without reserve!
