Crazy rare and sought after Jazz Funk private pressing by the excellent D.C. pianist and composer Hilton Felton. Truly a rare groove! This is the record that contains “Bee Bop Boogie”, 8 minutes and 59 seconds of ill drum and percussion break after ill drum and percussion break strung together by exceedingly hip and groove-heavy Jazz Funk. Felton culls from some of the great D.C. talent pool for this including Andrew White (the brother who gave us Who Got Da Funk? and over 200 Coltrane solo transcriptions!) and two members of the Blackbyrds, guitarist Orville Saunders and bassist Joe Hall.
The tunes are:
“A Man For All Reasons”, “Blues For A Weary Man”, “Tell Her Love Has Felt The Need”, “Bee Bop Boogie”, “Loves’ Losers”, and “The Light Of Mankind”.
I have no knowledge of any reissue of this LP, though Luv N’ Haight included “Bee Bop Boogie” on a long out of print comp in the early 90’s. However, I do believe that Hilton did more than one pressing of this LP, because I noticed a recent auction of the LP

which featured a picture on the cover that appears to be more recent than the 70’s when this LP was recorded and originally pressed. As you can see from the picture I’ve included (sorry about the picture quality), the cover of the copy I’m offering features a very obviously 1970’s Hilton, so I believe it is the original 1st pressing.
