Scarce one-sided 78rpm Marconi record by famed Minstrel Lew Dockstader Recorded by Mr. Dockstader ca. July, 1905 for Columbia, and also released on this label Dockstader was a Minstrel performer in both minstrel companies and vaudeville from the 1870's thru the 1920's. He had his own "Dockstader's Minstrels" troupe, which a young Al Jolson joined in 1908, before his discovery for Broadway. Dockstader had only 3 released recordings, this being his first. Marconi Record 0278  Marconi "Velvet Tone" Records were an early attempt at light weight, semi-flexible, unbreakable records. They were supposed to be played only with Marconi Gold-plated needles . . . Marconi record warnings and information affixed to blank reverse of record (see photograph) V+ condition, plays clearly (may have been played with a steel needle ?) some label fade Media Mail is $5.50 in U.S. (may be mailed within LP mailer since it is not shellac) Postage extra outside U.S., will be estimated and invoiced for Non-U.S. winner.
