Description
Vanguard VSD-79327, “Last Sessions” with Mississippi John Hurt, guitar and vocals; from 1972. This is the first issue of Vanguard’s posthumous recording of MJH’s last tracks. Original tan-label vinyl shows no marks and plays at NM with virtually no background sound. The jacket has strong seams with only negligible wear – just a bit of color loss – on the seams. There is very minor ringwear (you have to look hard to see it), no corner wear, no bends, writing, or stamps, and the jacket is very clean. The original inner sleeve is in excellent condition. Songs include “Poor Boy”, “Boys, You’re Welcome”, “Joe Turner”, “First Shot Missed Him”, “Farther Along” , “Funky Butt”, “Spider, Spider”, “Waiting for You”, “Shortnin’ Bread”, “Trouble, I’ve Had It All My Days”, “Let the Mermaids Flirt with Me”, “Good Morning, Carrie”, “Nobody Cares for Me”, “All Night Long”, “Hey, Honey, Right Away”, “You’ve Got to Die”, and “Goodnight Irene”. There are two cameos with Patrick Sky. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $20.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, and Australia; elsewhere inquire. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 per LP domestic, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, I strongly recommend registered mail for $12.00 extra. Many old records are now practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be caught in a postal conveyor belt and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window with no damage to LP or jacket. More than two LPs may be mailed together in a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
