Description
This is a solid assortment of 78rpm records from the late 1940s and early 1950s. Don't expect rare sides on Sun, Aristocrat or similar labels -- you won't find them here. What you will find is a representative assortment of music that black folks were listening to during the days before rock'n'roll emerged: jazz bands, combos, secular and gospel vocal groups, smooth bands and wild bands, ballad singers, crossover artists (yes, even then) and a few blues singers as well. Records like these are not nearly as easy to find as they used to be, so this is a good opportunity to acquire a stack of cool records at one time. Standard gradings, based on visible wear: N = new, unplayed; E = shiny black surface, barely used, well-preserved; V = dull black, average wear, light noise; G = dark grey, heavy wear, noisy, distorts; F = extreme wear, light grey, more noise than music; P = unplayable, wall-hanger unless rare. Scratches, scuffs, etc, listed separately. NOTE: ten of these records do not have sleeves.
