The Penguin Stereo Record Guide gives this its best 3 Star rating, 'superb playing and singing stunningly brilliant recording. Yet Solti's Decca version is remarkable for its new illumination of characters. Troyanos is quite simply the subtlest Carmen on record. Escamillo too is more readily sympathetic, Don Jose is revealed as weak rather than just a victim. This dramatic and sensitive account from Solti must now take first place.' ; ** lp *** Shipping & Packaging $12.50 priority 2-5 days or 4.50 surface which can take 3-4 weeks from California to the East Coast within the US.
