Description DetailsRe-release of Moby's fifth studio album as a double LP set on 180g vinyl. Originally released in 1999, it became the most successful indie album of the year and was certified platinum in over 20 countries. With »Play«, Moby changed his way of working once again. He took samples from folk and gospel – many of them from Alan Lomax’s archive – and combined them with his electronic soundscapes. He cuts loops out of the samples and repeats them endlessly: Bessie Jones' "Sometimes" is repeated over 20 times in "Honey," creating the hypnotic pull that made this song a hit. When it was released, many Moby fans who had expected a techno album turned away and the album failed to make a significant appearance in the charts.
