Tambores Afro Cubanos: Mongo Santamaria y sus Afro Cubanos con Mercidita Valdes.   1st Time I have ever offered this one as it does not come easy. Mongo's 1st and earliest recordings on SMC. Recorded 11-3-52.   LP and sleeve are exquisite in Near Mint condition.   The previous owner was not keen on selling his only copy of this,so i made him an offer he couldn't refuse which explains my opening price. Truly one of a kind and never shows up on ebay or the history of Popsike.   Tracks are Chango-Conga Callejera-Ochun-Guaguanco SIDE 2 Elegua-Meta-Yemaya-Abacua..   Please listen to a soundclip of Meta as it is the shortest track, while reading Martin Espada's brilliant tribute.                                          "Shaking Hands with Mongo"                                            by Martin Espada Mongo's open hands huge soft palms that drop the hard seeds of conga with a thump shaken by the God of hurricane raining mambo coconuts that do not split even when they hit the sidewalk rumbling incantation in the astonished dancehall of a city in winter sweating in a rush of A-train night so that Chano Pozo maestro of the drumming yoruba heart howling Manteca in a distant coro hears Mongo and yes, begins to bop a slow knocking bolero of forgiveness to the nameless man who shot his life away for a bag of tecata in a Harlem bar forty five years ago     Our new address is:
