Description

An actual rarity? Yes, believe it or not some records are actually properly rare. Clearly many folk seem to make out that every other record is rare - this is "far from the truth". Actual rarities are, in reality, as the word would suggest, hard to find! But this is one of those examples where low initial sales and label re-designs have conspired to create a VERY hard to find LP.>>>>
A  true and genuine very 1st press of FUTURE PASSED on the UK DSS label from November 1967. Matrix 2W/2W. Stampers 1A/1A [mathematically - that's gonna be hard to beat!]. The copies in mono are difficult to find - the stereo copies are ten a penny. But the really hard find is a GENUINE Autumn'67 1st mono press. And this is just such a copy. Clearly the stampers are a dead give-away you're dealing with an incredibly early copy. But there's another sign - Decca labels didn't exhibit the deep-grooves relatively soon after this title emerged. So, very earliest copies from autumn 1967 must have a deep groove [like this example]. They are pressed heavy and in the mono format sound breathtakingly good. The vinyl comes housed in an original mono cover printed by Clout and Baker with pinched spine. We also have a correct looking Decca inner sleeve with poly-bag. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great condition particularly given the vintage. Don't under estimate how unusual it is to find a true 1st copy looking this well preserved. Just a couple of lightest mark per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just slight deviation in a couple of spots. Not only is this the genuine mono 1st - it actually plays really well. Most of the audio is orchestral and anyone familiar with that genre knows - it's as fussy as hell! Side 2 plays Excellent throughout [barely a whiff of background]. Clean and impressive - I've not witnessed better. Side 1 plays this level - with just some low-level presence occasionally in a couple of spots e.g. DAWN. Nothing remotely invasive - it just won't play quite as clean, here, as the rest of the LP. Overall, I'd say this copy is superbly preserved. Given the rarity factor too - A bit of a gold nugget!
Cover (Vg+) Nice flat and clean front with barely a crease or any ageing. The rear seems to have avoided the worst of the ageing process - just light ageing at the extremities. Hardly any edge wear and the spine is 100% intact. Nice firm openings and the cover retains excellent rigidity. A super looking original example.
Inner (Ex-) Very little ageing. Bag present. No splits.
